USR Month

The University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) has identified the month of October as the “USR Month”. USRN member universities around the world will demonstrate and highlight their commitment to social responsibility by showcasing their social responsibility activities during this month.

Through the USR Month campaign, universities affiliated to the USRN will be able to learn from each other’s USR initiatives as well as to motivate other universities outside the USRN to strengthen their USR initiatives. Ultimately, it is hoped that there will be increased awareness of USR, propelling a USR movement in the global higher education sector.

2019 USR Month – The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service’s new blood transfusion vehicle made its debut at PolyU campus in October with students and staff members giving blood donations.

Officiating at the opening ceremony, Under Secretary for Food and Health of Hong Kong and the Director of the BTS encouraged all PolyU staff and students to support the PolyU Blood Donation Campaign and to further strengthen the university’s role in society by giving blood. For many years PolyU has been a role model in promoting blood donation. The University has also established its own on-campus blood donor centre in 2014 to promote blood donation to the young generation.
