USR Month - University Social Responsibility Network

The University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) has identified the month of October as the “USR Month”. USRN member universities around the world will demonstrate and highlight their commitment to social responsibility by showcasing their social responsibility activities during this month.

Through the USR Month campaign, universities affiliated to the USRN will be able to learn from each other’s USR initiatives as well as to motivate other universities outside the USRN to strengthen their USR initiatives. Ultimately, it is hoped that there will be increased awareness of USR, propelling a USR movement in the global higher education sector.

2018 USR Month – Kyoto University

Kyoto University made its USR activities public by having a poster presentation on University Social Responsibility and the USRN related initiatives during the “Uji Campus Open Days”, when the University opens its facilities and laboratories to the public.

The two days event brought a great number of visitors to the campus. Besides experiencing the campus environment, visitors could also understand the activities of the university through participating in different workshops, exhibits, and lectures.

Kyoto University also launched a new website on “Global University Social Responsibility” in the USR Month. The website has a focus on USR and will disseminate information about Kyoto University’s USR activities regularly.
