USRN Students Shine at the PolyU EAGLE Leadership Summer Immersion 2026

The University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) is pleased to share the highlights of the EAGLE Leadership Summer Immersion: EAGLE the Adventurers 2025/26 (the Programme), which took place from 8 to 22 June 2026.

Organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Chair of the USRN Executive Committee, the Programme received a warm response from network members. As part of PolyU’s support for youth leadership development and international exchange within the network, nominated students from USRN member institutions were invited to participate in the programme with the programme fee waived. This year, 17 USRN students from across the network joined a cohort of 70 participants for this summer experience.

Reflecting the diversity of the USRN community, the participating students came from member institutions including:

  • Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Kazakhstan)
  • Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines)
  • Beijing Normal University (China)
  • Sabanci University (Türkiye)
  • Sichuan University (China)
  • Universiti Brunei Darussalam (Brunei)
  • University of the Philippines (Philippines)
  • University of Pretoria (South Africa)
  • VU Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Alongside PolyU students, the USRN students engaged in leadership training, intercultural exchange, and collaborative dialogue to explore how young leaders can address global challenges through teamwork and social responsibility.

EAGLE International Youth Leaders Summit: Aspire to a Sustainable World for Future Generations

A  core component of the Programme was the EAGLE International Youth Leaders Summit (the Summit) 2026, held on 10 June 2026. Themed “Aspire to a Sustainable World for Future Generations”, the Summit provided a platform for students to broaden their perspectives and connect with peers from different backgrounds.

The morning session featured keynote speakers from academia, international development organisations and industry, who discussed practical approaches to sustainability. In the afternoon, participants explored pressing issues related to climate action, AI-driven sustainability, and leadership ethics in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practice.

In addition to classroom learning, the students participated in local cultural immersion and community engagement activities in Hong Kong, focusing on urban poverty, local historical development, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

Experiential Learning and Expedition to Xi’an

Following the core programme, the USRN students participated in a series of thematic training sessions under the “EAGLE the Adventurers 2025/26”. This culminated in an education expedition to Xi’an, where they explored the cultural heritage of the Silk Road and examined local sustainable development practices.

To conclude the Programme, participants worked in teams to develop and present project proposals linked to the SDGs and ESG principles to organisational partners.

The USRN Secretariat thanks PolyU’s Student Affairs Office for hosting and supporting this meaningful initiative, and expresses its appreciation to all participating member universities for their active support.
